Campers and Friends,
After waiting it out and closely analyzing the progression of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our 2020 Camp Encounter overnight programs.
This decision was not made easily. The board, staff, and I have been considering the recommendations of the CDC and the NYS Department of Health for weeks. At this time, overnight camps have not yet been cleared to operate in NYS. This has solidified our decision to alter our regular programing.
It is difficult to give up the opportunity to encounter God face to face along side our friends as we do each year here at camp, but our priority must be for the safety of each staff member, camper and their family. Please be encouraged that our mission remains the same! We desire to serve our community, while connecting with God and others, as we grow in our faith. Although there isn’t a true substitute for the full Camp Encounter experience, we want to assure you that, as soon as it is deemed safe, we will be offering youth events through Teen M@TteRs and other day ministries.
The ministry of Peniel has weathered many storms over the past 87 years, and yet we are here! We have only prevailed because of God’s constant provision and His unfailing faithfulness. We know that God will guide us through these unprecedented days with the same grace. So take heart, there will be songs rising from the chapel, messages of God’s love, silly games in the field, and giggles around the fire once again very soon! We truly do miss you!
If you feel led to give during these days, your support would help us financially weather the storm created by COVID-19 cancellations. You can mail checks to PO Box 369, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846, or give on our website penielbibleconference.org. Thank you for your prayers and support!
Update: April 1, 2020
We continue preparing and praying for the 2020 camp and retreat season at PBC and Camp Encounter! Please know that we are committed to the well-being of each camper, guest, staff member and volunteer. Our mission remains to be a safe and healthy space where people of all ages and backgrounds are invited to encounter God as they grow in their relationship with Christ, connect with others, and serve their purpose in community.
We are following NY Department of Health guidelines in regards to Covid-19 and have closed the campus until April 30th to practice the recommended social distancing required. Currently, all of our May 2020 Volunteer Days and our Summer Camp & Retreat programs are in progress. Please pray with us for our nation and all those who are suffering with the consequences of these difficult days. Our hearts and prayers are with all of you and we ask for God to show himself strong through this storm!
Praying to see you in May!!!
