A Letter from Penielís President
No one would argue that 2020 has brought some unique and complex challenges, and our youth have not escaped the confusing impact of it all. This leaves many of us wondering: What will 2021 bring?
I am excited to tell you that in the midst of the chaos, something special is happening at Peniel:
WE ARE BUILDING MOMENTUM!!!!!!!
For well over 80 years, Peniel Bible Conference has been helping youth encounter God, creation, and each other through high impact, Christcentered camp experiences...and that continues to this day. We believe youth are worth investing in...no matter the challenges we face in doing so.
That’s why I’m excited to tell you that while many ministries are struggling to survive these tumultuous times, we’re actually building momentum.
Like everyone else, we’ve had to make adjustments, but we continue to provide programs and safe spaces for the youth we serve to have powerful encounters with our unchanging God in a fun and relaxed environment. All this is done by our supportive and loving staff amidst the stunning beauty of the Adirondacks. We know youth need the consistent presence of caring adults as they navigate this complex and rapidly changing world. That’s why the Prayer Council Board of Directors and Staff of Peniel created Camp Encounter - to honor and continue the history and heritage of this amazing ministry helping people come face to face with God, others, and creation.
We are so deeply grateful for all of the staff, volunteers, and donors who have helped us not just survive this crazy year, but actually grow and build momentum! Programs are running, bills are being paid, giving is up, and we’ve been able to acquire some important equipment to help us do what we do. Momentum is building...and it’s because of faithful supporters like you! Now, as we enter this season of giving and charity and as an act of worship to honor the gift of Jesus, we ask you to help us KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING!
As we look to better days ahead in 2021, we have every intention of hosting summer camp programs again. In order to do this, we need to be able to pay our college aged summer staff for their investment into the youth we serve. They sacrifice a lot to give up part of their summer and often vacation days from their jobs in order to play the foundational role of helping our campers encounter Christ.
Additionally, there are several significant improvements needed for our aging facilities and infrastructure. In order to continue to facilitate the kind of encounters with God, others, and creation that we’ve all experienced, and cherished at Peniel, we must address several key facility and infrastructure needs in order to provide safe and quality camp environments.
This Giving Tuesday, we are raising $15,000 to cover the costs of paying summer staff for their key role in helping our campers encounter God, as well as to complete some important upgrades to our facilities and infrastructure.
Here are a couple of ways you can give:
- On December 1st Facebook will be matching Giving Tuesday donations starting at 8:00AM sharp! Matching funds are typically exhausted within the first few minutes, so it’s important to donate as close to 8AM as possible! Go to our Peniel Bible Conference Facebook page to give!
- Go to our website: www.penielbibleconference.org and click the Donations page to find multiple ways to give online.
- As always, cash or check can be mailed to: Peniel Bible Conference, PO BOX 369, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846.
Help us end 2020 by building momentum for 2021! Whether you donate $5, $50, $500 or $5,000, we greatly appreciate your support!
On behalf of the Prayer Council Board of Directors and Staff at Peniel, thanks again for your prayers and giving as we partner together to help our youth encounter our awesome God!
Peace and Grace,
Dave Bouffard - Prayer Council/Board President
