New Interim Director at Peniel!

Dear Peniel Family,

As many of you know, there have been some big changes happening here at Peniel Bible Conference. Effective April 1, 2018, Tobias and Gina Kipp resigned from their roles as Camp Director and Office Manger at camp. It is hard to summarize the gratitude we all feel for the immeasurable impact they have had on this organization and the lives they have touched for the better for the past 7 years. Their faithful service and sacrificial hard work is a testimony to their character and an example of the love of Jesus that will not be forgotten. We wish them many blessings as they step into this new season in their lives and are grateful for their continued involvement as volunteers and handing the baton to new leadership, which demonstrates their love and commitment to the success of Peniel’s ministry. Please pray for them as they continue their journey as a family and God’s servants in His Kingdom. On behalf of the Prayer Council and the entire Peniel family, thank you for everything and may God bless you!

It is now with great joy and anticipation that I would like to introduce to you to our new Interim Director for Peniel Bible Conference, Dave Bouffard. Dave comes to us with 20 years of camp leadership experience and is currently a local pastor in Fort Ann, NY at Cornerstone Bible Church. He has directed summer camps, conferences, and retreat centers in the U.S. and even abroad at a startup camp ministry to orphans in Uganda, East Africa! His undergraduate degree was in Bible with an emphasis on Camp Ministry from Cairn University (formerly Philadelphia College of Bible & Philadelphia Biblical University) where he also worked on a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership. Dave has also been involved in local homeless shelter ministries serving as a Board member and then staff at the Open Door Mission in Glens Falls as a Program Director and Chaplain, as well as at the City Mission of Schenectady where he was a counselor in their year long discipleship & recovery program, called “Bridges To Freedom” for homeless men & women. The Lord has richly blessed us with the gift of Dave’s experience and service and we are so excited to have him on board! He has already spent a great deal of time getting to know Peniel, it’s history and heritage, and its continuing staff and volunteers.

In the short time he has been with us, I have personally found him to be very open minded, easy to talk to, and eager to listen to ideas and suggestions on how to grow Peniel’s ministry. He has made many important observations and is working to lead us through a process of developing a new vision and much needed strategic plan for the future. We are in prayerful consideration of what God’s desire is for this new season and are discussing many vital issues with the Prayer Council. I would like to invite you to introduce yourself to Dave and reach out to him for encouragement in his service here. His email address is

We are so grateful for the dedicated summer youth campers and their families that we serve here at Peniel. For those of you who have been asking, we regret to announce that there will be no summer youth camp program for summer 2018. However, we are actively working to do all we can take this time to work towards offering an even BETTER summer camp program in 2019!!!

While we worked hard to find the key staff needed to have camp this summer, we were unable to do so, which is the primary reason overnight camps will not be happening. Yet it became very clear that this provided us with a unique opportunity to focus our energies on identifying critical areas needing improvement throughout the organization in order to create a strategic plan, which will enable us to create a better Peniel for the future! So while we’re all very disappointed that we won’t have camp this year, we are truly excited about the future and covet your continued support as we seek the Lord for His direction on how to best offer this ministry for His Kingdom and glory! We consider everyone connected to Peniel to be family, and need to be honest that there are some significant challenges facing camp. Yet we truly believe that God has a plan for the future and we ask you to continue to seek how God would have you be involved with this ministry. Our continued desire is to use the unique power of camps & conferences to help people grow in their faith and we need your help in order to continue to do so! Please consider how you might be able to support us through prayer, financial donations, volunteering, or even in-kind donations in order to help us build a stronger foundation on which we can grow into a new season of helping youth and young adults develop their faith through camps & conferences.

Even though we won’t be offering overnight youth camps, we are still open for retreats and rentals. Our annual Growth In Truth adult conference will still be taking place from July 31-August 4 and you’re invited! See our website for more information. Additionally, we hope to soon announce several 1 day events throughout the summer where you can come to camp and enjoy some activities, food, fellowship, worship, and fun and get to meet our new Director and hear about our developing plan for Peniel’s future!

Thank you all so much for your patience, support, and care for Peniel! You are always welcome to come visit the camp grounds and facilities and meet with our staff as you consider how God would have you be a part of this ministry. We are blessed by your connections with us, encouraged by your interest, and strengthened by your prayers.

In His Grace and All-Consuming Love,

Jan Goodwin

President of the Prayer Council
